Pro-Life Social MediaIf preborn babies could vote, surely they would vote pro-life. But babies can’t vote, so we have to do it on their behalf, as millions of registered voters are already doing.

Many people complain to me about the silence, ignorance or cowardice of clergy who refuse to address abortion. These complaints naturally skyrocket during an election year. I share this frustration, but 40 Days for Life seems to bring out the best in clergy and gives them an opportunity to preach the Gospel of Life in truth and love during difficult times. Clergy who choose to ignore the reality of abortion for whatever reason cannot overshadow the faithful clergy who do speak out. Recently, I had the joy of being hosted by one such example of a courageous pastor at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Overland Park, Kansas. Archbishop Joseph Naumann has been defending the unborn in word and deed longer than I’ve been alive. He has inspired so many pastors–Catholic, Protestant, and Evangelical alike–by his example as chairman of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities.
Let us encourage clergy to be more bold, so women who have an abortion feel they can seek healing, those who work in the abortion industry can come to know the mercy of Jesus Christ, and those who support or advocate for abortion can see the sinful and barbaric nature of this common surgery. As we encourage clergy to be vocal, we cannot forget to thank those shepherds who lead us by example.
Galloway, New Jersey Ethel in Galloway said that four different pastors prayed at her vigil on the same day. Clergy represented on the sidewalk came from different denominations and faith traditions–but share a love for life and for the Lord. The Christian unity is effective. God used peaceful prayer warriors to save seven babies so far this campaign!
New Haven, Connecticut New Haven leader Tim is Protestant, but he was delighted to welcome a Catholic priest to his vigil. “I joined him from 1-2 pm and it was a great experience,” Tim reflected. “Fr. Ron has always been very pro-life and he was glad to come out and be a part of our fall campaign. This was a big deal.” It’s Tim’s first campaign, and the priest’s appearance was significant. He’s the first pastor to join the vigil and pray for an end to abortion… …but he wasn’t the last. Three more members of the clergy joined a rainy closing event with 40 Days for Life Campaign Director Steve Karlen.
Hudson, New York Steve also visited Hudson, where a local pastor doesn’t just participate in the local vigil–he leads it. Pastor Craig moved to Hudson several years ago to shepherd a church…and also leads a diverse group of Protestants, Catholics, and Evangelicals in prayer for an end to abortion. Planned Parenthood and its supporters don’t appreciate the attention. During Steve’s visit, somebody called the police, resulting in a visit from two squad cars. Officers left quickly after they saw a peaceful, law-abiding vigil taking place.

Great news as we head into the final weekend of the largest-ever 40 Days for Life campaign. We have confirmed the 107th abortion facility has closed following a 40 Days for Life campaign! Mark in El Paso, Texas received confirmation that the Hilltop abortion facility has relinquished its license…and he even witnessed the abortion center’s sign being painted over in preparation for new tenants!
Mark and his team previously helped close two other abortion facilities in the area. Mark saved the sign he made to celebrate one of those previous closures in the hopes that he might one day need it again. Those hopes have now been fulfilled! “Prayer and fasting work,” Mark said. “Let’s keep the fight on. We’ve got three of the five abortion facilities [in the area] closed in three years. I say we go five-for-five!“
Madison, Wisconsin St. Ambrose Academy in Madison scheduled a service day, sacrificing a day of academic instruction to serve fellow members of the community. A group of students decided to spend their service day praying–in the rain–for abortion-vulnerable moms and babies at Planned Parenthood. Madison is about to complete its 14th straight 24-hour vigil without ever missing a single hour! Such an accomplishment requires a lot of sacrifice, especially during the frigid middle-of-the-night hours. “We have honorable men, fathers, and grandfathers stepping up to the plate and praying at all hours of the day; it is incredible!” reported Joni. “My husband has been going almost every day and sometimes for three hours a shift.”
Montana 40 Days for Life General Counsel Matt Britton recently returned from campaign visits in Montana, where a record October snowfall just blanketed the state. “Driving away from the facility on the scheduled abortion day, a man and woman stopped their car and told the Billings 40 Days for Life team that they didn’t have to worry because they ‘decided to keep the baby,'” Matt reported. Matt wasn’t the only guest to visit the Missoula rally. “A young lady had chosen life a day or two before, and she stopped by the vigil with the father of her child to show us her ultrasound pictures of her unborn baby. She was extremely happy and joyful.”

There’s no stronger or more beautiful bond than the relationship between a mother and her baby. The abortion industry pits mothers against their own children, arguing that giving your baby life is an attack on their bodily autonomy. Of course, abortion harms both babies and moms–a truth that becomes painfully clear every time an ambulance arrives at an abortion facility to transport a woman to the hospital for lifesaving care. It’s an all-too-common situation…and one that reminds us that abortion is violence, not healthcare.
Beth in Manchester, New Hampshire reported that four ambulances appeared at the local Planned Parenthood facility, just in the last seven months. Unfortunately, Manchester isn’t an isolated case. 40 Days for Life leaders from around the world report disturbing scenes of injured women leaving abortion centers in emergency vehicles.
Manhattan, New York A campaign participant was praying at the Manhattan 40 Days for Life vigil recently when an ambulance arrived to the former Margaret Sanger Planned Parenthood. The volunteer said the EMS crew was inside the facility for 10-15 minutes before bringing a woman out to the ambulance.
Bogotá, Colombia Pamela Delgado, the director of 40 Days for Life campaigns in Colombia, reported an ambulance with its siren on taking a “very ill” woman in a wheelchair away from the abortion facility. “That situation showed us that legal abortion is dangerous!” she said.
Spring Valley, New York Eileen in Spring Valley exhorted her volunteers to pray for a “young girl” taken away from Planned Parenthood in an ambulance. “Clearly upsetting,” Eileen described the situation. “Emergency responders were shaken…it was very sad to witness.”
Concord, California Marlene reported that an ambulance arrived to the Concord Planned Parenthood around 2:15 pm and rushed a woman (who appeared healthy when she entered Planned Parenthood) to the hospital.

The most iconic scene of the Unplanned movie depicts Abby Johnson’s pill-induced abortion. Two grisly, heart-wrenching minutes earned the film an “R” rating from the MPAA…but also became the best educational tool pro-lifers have for illustrating the horror of chemical abortions. Fortunately, the abortion pill reversal protocol (APR) has been shown to save about two thirds of babies when moms change their minds and pursue treatment after taking the first abortion pill. Nobody is better positioned than 40 Days for Life vigil participants to inform women who have taken the abortion pill that it might not be too late choose life. “Mom with twins seeking APR–please pray!!” read a short, desperate email from Amber, the 40 Days for Life leader in Columbus, Georgia.
Amber helped administer the reversal process right away and scheduled the mother for an ultrasound the next day. Unfortunately, one baby succumbed to the abortion pill–but the other baby had a heartbeat! Meanwhile, Rich confirmed that a patient in Sarasota, Florida opted to reverse her chemical abortion, and an ultrasound confirmed a strong heartbeat. And when a woman in Norman, Oklahoma opted to reverse her chemical abortion, 40 Days for Life participants gave her $595 to refund the money the mom spent on abortion pills. Please keep these moms and babies in prayer!
Seaside, California Matthew in Seaside said that during previous campaigns, his team had been confronted by a homeless man who struggles with addiction. At times, vigil participants even needed to call the police. But the man recently approached Matthew with a new tone. “He walked up to me peacefully and let me know he had just been released from a 2.5 month stay in jail,” Matthew reported. “He expressed sorrow for how he treated us in the past. He conversed and prayed with us for some time.” The interaction was a microcosm of the community’s response to the vigil in Seaside. While California is an abortion-friendly state, Matthew said, “In my personal experience on the sidewalk, the majority of citizens in the community support our efforts.”
Waco, Texas Back in March, Texas suspended abortions as non-essential procedures. “When abortions started back up in Texas, the abortion doctor never came back,” reported Aine, the leader in Waco. Planned Parenthood has remained open, referring abortion-minded women to Austin, Dallas, and Fort Worth, but a vigil participant was able to redirect an expectant mother to a local pregnancy center to choose life for her baby!
