St. Therese of the Child Jesus
Dear Family of Mary!
Today is a special feast. St. Therese of the Child Jesus! She has taught the whole church exactly what it means to trust in Jesus for everything. We can enter into spiritual childhood through her example. Our Lady is calling us to the same childlike relationship with the Lord. She once said to us:
“Dear children! Today I invite you to decide every day for God. Little children, you speak much about God, but you witness little with your life. Therefore, little children, decide for conversion, that your life may be true before God, so that in the truth of your life you witness the beauty God gave you. Little children, I invite you again to decide for prayer because through prayer, you will be able to live the conversion. Each one of you shall become in the simplicity, similar to a child which is open to the love of the Father. Thank you for having responded to my call.” July 25, 1996
(c) Mary TV 2013
I want to conclude the transcript of Marija’s talk on Saturday. Truly Marija represents to us a similar childlike openness and dependency upon God. Her words are simple and direct:
There were people who started saying yes to Our Lady, and to her call. They started saying yes to God, yes to fasting, yes to prayer. .And then Our Lady understood that she could count on us. That she needed us. That she desired to present us to her Son as the most beautiful flower bouquet. She invited us and asked us if we were ready to pray more. And when Fr. Jozo would tell the message on the microphone, we all said, “Yes, yes.” And I remember one day when Our Lady asked us to pray and fast on bread and water for nine days, and we did it, not through our strength but with the love that we felt for Our Lady. And then after that time we would go up the hill and cross mountain, sometimes both in the same day, and we would pray, and we could feel that our stomach was empty but at the same time we were saying yes, that with prayer and fasting even wars could be stopped.
And we witnessed many conversions. Many sinners started to choose the right way. We started realizing that God is in our midst. That He works that he heals, and that He converts. He is not only up in the clouds but He is with us. And we felt His presence in our hearts and in our families as well. And then Our Lady started guiding this parish through weekly messages. Every Thursday Our Lady would give a message for this parish. She started guiding this parish so that it could become a good example for other parishes. Then step by step so many pilgrims started coming closer to Our Lady, and so Our Lady started giving messages for the whole world every 25th of the month. And she said that the messages were for all of us so that we could grow more in faith.
These are not new messages. Our Lady is just saying that she desires to wake us up because we fell asleep, we do not pray, we do not believe. There was a lack of faith that was ruling our heart. God became far from us. We did not look for Him, we did not pray to Him we did not believe in His power. Then step by step with the help of Our Lady, Queen of Peace, we started living a new journey. Maybe you will ask what kind of journey this is. It is an every day journey, a journey of life. To wake up early until the moment we fall asleep, when we are tired, we are still able to pray. We stared praying and working, fasting and working, singing on our knees, singing and praying. In all possible ways prayer was part of our day. And as one of our bishops said, a bishop who is a friend of mine, he said we started praying as we washed dishes, ironing, cleaning, the way our mothers and grandmothers did. The prayer in our family was awakened, and prayer in our hearts was awakened. We did not leave any space to the devil to enter our hearts or families. And that is what we are invited to do. We are invited to be the prayer for all those who do not pray. For all those who do not adore Jesus.
We can say that we here from Medjugorje exported the way of adoration – so many other places in the world are adoring Our Lord in the Medjugorje way, through singing, prayer and meditation to be before Jesus. There were times when we did not even know what to do, we would kneel before Jesus and say, “Jesus I am looking at you and you are looking at me. That is enough. You know what is in my heart. You know my desires and pain. You know about it because You created me in Your image. When I become your servant, your instrument, You can use me and You can guide me and then will I be able to find joy, eternal joy that lasts forever.”
And that is why Our Lady says start living paradise here on the earth; where – in our heart. With who – with God in our heart and the help of the Queen of Peace. She is our Queen. She is the Queen of our hearts, the Queen of our future. She is hope for all those who are hopeless. So many, nowadays, do not see any future. She is here and she is present and she says, “Do not be afraid because I am with you and I love you. Do not forget that. The one who prays, who believes, who has God does not have any more fear, because God is our Shepherd. And we should not lack anything.”
That is why He sent His Mother to us, because He does not abandon us. She is the one who helps us as our teacher and mother and she says, “My children bring back prayer, return to God, return to the sacraments. Live the sacraments. Live God’s commandments and in that moment when you belong to God you will be content and happy. Your life will find the fullness of living, and at that moment you will become the instruments for all those who have not experienced God’s love.
Remember that every 2nd of the month Our Lady started appearing to ask us to pray for all who are far from God. And each one of us, if we start thinking about it in our heart, we will say, I know him or her, someone, who knows how many people we know, who are far from God and we would love them to return to God and to the sacraments.
And Our Lady says to us that prayer has no limits. Prayer works miracles. Prayer is our life. And she invites us in the last message given to us, to have prayer as joy in our life. Not something we are forced to do, but Our Lady said “Choose in the freedom God gives you, to choose God because without God you have no future.” And that is why Our Lady does not get tired. She is our mother, and she desires to guide us and help us. She desires to say to us that she is with us. As at the foot of the cross, when she was close to her dying Son, it would seem there was no hope left, but she became the hope of the Church. And we Christians should be proud to have Our Lady as our Mother and we should be grateful for that. A Christian who is Marian is richer. Because we have spice, we have Our Lady! She is the one who intercedes for us before God, the Mother of Jesus and also Our Mother. She knows in what way to present our intentions and our pain, our desires and our suffering. She is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit. You know that the Holy Spirit can do what He wishes. She knows, as the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, how to intercede for us and our lives until each of us truly becomes a holy person. There are so many people who die witnessing their faith. Our Lady invites us to be carriers of faith in this year of faith. We are united in a special way with the Holy Father in prayer.
Also through the moment of the Consecration that the present Pope will do before the statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which will be done on Oct. 13, we who are in love with Our Lady will be content and we will be united with the Pope and the entire Church asking that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, may protect the Church. This is a new journey with this gift that God has given to us through Pope Francis, through his simplicity, prayer, testimony, in which he says to us to witness our Christian life there where we are in our everyday situation. He invites us not to be indifferent. That we truly become the extended hands, as Our Lady invites us to be, for those who are far away, pagans, those who haven’t gotten the chance to know the Gospel and the love of God and there are so many of them. We have to have in our mind that we help them, so they may feel the love of God.
That is why I invite you who have come to Medjugorje, make good use of this time here so that this time may become an encounter with Jesus, through Our Lady. Use this time for prayer. Go up the Cross Mountain or Apparition Hill praying. Pray before the Blessed Sacrament. If you are not used to prayer take some of the books to help you, to reveal the prayer to you, to help you to know some new prayers and invocations, so we may be enriched until the moment when our life becomes a prayer itself. And since I am the one who still has daily apparitions, I will remember all of you and pray for your intentions at the moment of Our Lady’s apparition. You at that time here at the church, stop and pray. I will recommend all of you, so that when you return home you will live a new life and be witnesses of a new life for other people.
We have many priests with us, so we will ask them to bless us, so that we may become instruments whose hearts of stone may be softened to receive the word of God and Our Lady’s call. And then one day when we come to heaven she may say to us, thank you for having responded to my call.
Everyone stood, and the priests blessed the whole assembly….
God Our Heavenly Father, we ask your blessing on us this day. Please send your Holy Spirit to cleanse us and renew us. Fill us with your gifts and charity so that we can extend the love of Our Lady to all we meet. Bless us all and all those we pray for back home so we can live as Christ wants us to live. And continue to bring us, dear Blessed Mother, to your Divine Son. May the Lord bless us all in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen

Senate Democrats Reject GOP Obamacare Delay, Force Abortion Funding
Senate Democrats today, on a party-line vote, rejected the House Republicans effort Saturday night to delay Obamacare, and stop abortion funding and promotion.
The Senate yanked out the House-approved amendments on the bill to fund the federal government, meaning it rejected amendments to strike abortion funding from Obamcare and to strike the HHS mandate that compels religious groups to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions.
40 Days for Life Campaign Saves 36 Babies From Abortion Already
If you need a reason to look forward to Mondays, this is it! Mondays are the days we update all the reports of babies spared from abortion during your 40 Days for Life vigils.
Thus far during this 40 Days for Life campaign, we have reports of 36 babies saved that we know of! Here are just a few of those stories.
Obama Admin Will Break Law to Fund Abortions for Congress, Congressional Staff
The Obama administration has confirmed it will break current federal law to pay for abortions for members of Congress and Congressional staff via Obamacare.
Leading pro-life groups and pro-life members of Congress have been concerned that the Office of Personnel Management will not comply with the Smith Amendment that bans taxpayer-funding of abortions in federal employee health care plans. Under the amendment, which is existing law, federal funds may not be used to pay for abortions via federally-funded health insurance for congressional staff and Members. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/09/30/obama-admin-will-break-law-to-fund-abortions-for-congress-congressional-staff/
Former Abortion Practitioner Lays His Surgical Instruments at the Feet of the Pope
The pro-life movement is filled with former abortion practitioners who have experienced a monumental change of heart. Many have converted to Christianity, become pro-life, and some now work as legitimate doctors or become associated with pregnancy centers providing women with tangible abortion alternatives.
Dr. Antonio Oriente is one such former abortion practitioner. He so genuinely wanted to receive forgiveness for his involvement in the abortion industry that, recently, he brought the surgical instruments he used to take the lives of unborn babies in abortions and laid them at the feet of Pope Francis. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/09/30/former-abortion-practitioner-lays-his-surgical-instruments-at-the-feet-of-the-pope/

Abortion Biz Prez Blasts GOPs Defunding Abortion in Obamacare as War on Women
Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards is on the warpath again, making up claims that Republicans in the House of Representatives are engaging in some sort of War on Women by passing a measure that would ensure taxpayers arent forced to pay for abortions under Obamacare.
Under the false headline, The Houses war on women, Richards claims: http://www.lifenews.com/2013/09/30/abortion-biz-prez-blasts-gops-defunding-abortion-in-obamacare-as-war-on-women/
More Than 1 Million People Alive Today Because the Hyde Amendment Stopped Abortion Funding
The Hyde Amendment sticks in the craw of abortion absolutists as much as any pro-life law ever enacted. And today marks the 37th anniversary of passage of the law (the Hyde is the late pro-life champion, Rep. Henry Hyde), a titanic struggle that represented a major success against federal funding of abortion.
Prior to its passage in 1976, the federal Medicaid program paid for 300,000 abortions a year. Conservative estimates are that there are well over one million people are alive today because of the Hyde Amendment. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/09/30/more-than-1-million-people-alive-today-because-the-hyde-amendment-stopped-abortion-funding/

(Eph 6:10-13) Finally, brethren, be strengthened in the Lord and in the might of his power. Put you on the armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places. Therefore, take unto you the armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day and to stand in all things perfect.
BRO. IGNATIUS MARY, OLSM: Three Secret Strategies of Satan to Destroy our Children, our Families, our Culture, and our Church
EDITORIAL: Vanquish dark enemy in spiritual battles
“I went against my enemies and they are no more.” This was a common testimony of victory written by kings during Old Testament times. The goal of war was total annihilation of the enemy; from their rulers, right down to the family guppy. The motive was not about power, but the removal of influence.
Reading the accounts of warfare in the Old Testament can leave one feeling the outcomes were a little over the top for our modern acceptance.
Today, we are against genocide. Instead, modern warfare endeavors to inflict enough mayhem upon the enemy until they cry “uncle” by signing an article of surrender.
But this does not mean the old approach to warfare is no longer relevant. It still has its place in spiritual conflicts where we battle against the powers and dark forces that challenge us within.
We must not enter into spiritual warfare hoping to bring our enemies to a gentleman’s agreement to no longer bother us. Spiritual enemies never honor such contracts. As long as they remain within, they will attack.
Our goal must be the complete destruction of these spiritual influences. The victory must be all-inclusive and perpetual, destroying both the enemy’s stronghold and influence on our nature.
So how are your spiritual battles going? Are you vanquishing the enemy or trying to achieve an armistice? You will never have complete victory until you can testify, by the help of God: “I went against my enemies and they are no more.”
EXCERPT CATHOLIC ONLINE: Spiritual Warfare: Time to Build The Tower and Take the Field of Battle
Our mission to the culture lies at the heart of what it means to be leaven, light, salt and the soul of the world as the early Christians taught. However, we do need to remember that the task we face is first, at root, a spiritual struggle that will first be won in prayer, stepped into a new Christian missionary movement by the compelling witness of a vibrant, orthodox, faithful Christianity that is culturally engaging, relevant and compelling to the new pagans of our age.
The contemporary re-emergence of ancient paganism is not the path to authentic human freedom and flourishing but to misery. The Christian understanding of the dignity of every human life and the truth about marriage and family is not some outdated notion of a past era but the framework for a future of true freedom. We are living in a new missionary age.

DETROIT, Sept. 30, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ — Nonprofits St. Vincent de Paul Detroit and Maryland-based Planet Aid have filed suit in Federal Court against Houston-based American Textile Recycling Services (ATRS), alleging the for-profit company illegally removed and disposed of their clothing donation bins located throughout metro Detroit including Pontiac, Milford, Jackson, Allan Park, Lincoln Park, Bloomfield Township. The suit states, further, that ATRS crossed state lines and used the U.S. mail system to carry out this fraudulent enterprise in violation of the Civil RICO statute – causing St. Vincent and Planet Aid to incur tens of thousands of dollars in damages.
After removing the donation bins, in many cases, ATRS, a for profit company, installed their own collection boxes, suggesting that it is on behalf of the Humane Society to collect items. ATRS is alleged to be in violation of the Civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO.
“These bins, often seen in front of shopping centers and grocery stores, are a major source of donations and revenue for these charities, which solely benefit needy individuals and their families,” said attorney Daniel Dalton of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. based Dalton Tomich, plc. “ATRS sought to line their own pockets while depriving those who depend on St. Vincent and Planet Aid for help.”
ATRS targeted and started removing donation boxes in October of 2012, drafting letters and contacting the store managers on properties where the bins were located, telling them that they would remove the boxes. ATRS would then remove competing boxes and install their own. Boxes were removed in Pontiac, Allen Park, Milford as well as Jackson. After removal, the contents of the bins were confiscated and the bins scraped for metal at Jackson, Michigan area scrap yards.
“The entire process was conceived by ATRS to maliciously harm and steal from St. Vincent de Paul, Planet Aid and other nonprofits,” added Dalton. “We are looking forward to the court system hearing this case and taking corrective action.”
The federal lawsuit, filed by St. Vincent DePaul and Planet Aid is currently pending in the United States District Court in Detroit, Michigan. A Motion for a Preliminary Injunction has been filed along with the complaint where St. Vincent DePaul and Planet Aid has asked for the Court to enjoin ATRS from taking their bins. The motion is pending before the Honorable Judge Denise Page Hood.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y., Sept. 30, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ — “If media members print distortions, half-truths, or lies, they are duty bound to print corrections. Associated Press reporter Bob Lewis has printed a lie,” said Dr. Alveda King, director of African American Outreach for Priests for Life. King, speaking in reference to a Washington Post excerpt where AP reported:
- “In little-noted LG race, GOP’s voluble and volatile Jackson debates wonky Dem doctor, Northam — By Associated Press
- “ARLINGTON, Va. — Virginia’s lieutenant governor candidates… clashed over health care, how to care for the dangerously mentally ill and women’s access to reproductive health services…”
King explains: “In his story on the Virginia Lieutenant Governor candidates’ debate, Mr. Lewis printed as fact a false claim [easily fact-checked as false] of one of the candidates. Mr. Lewis’s article states that the ‘personhood’ bill considered by the Virginia legislature last year would have outlawed most forms of abortion in the state. In fact, the bill would have outlawed no abortions in the state.”
A brief Google search would reveal that the personhood bill’s summary declares that any rights granted to an unborn child are “subject only to the laws and Constitutions of Virginia and the United States, precedents of the United States Supreme Court, and provisions to the contrary in the statutes of the Commonwealth.” So the bill is restricted by Roe v. Wade and every subsequent abortion decision by the Supreme Court. In other words, it would prohibit no abortions. Missouri has had almost identical language in its state code for years, language that has been upheld in court and which has barred zero abortions.
“Obviously Mr. Lewis and perhaps millions of Americans don’t understand the concept of ‘personhood’ that upholds the constitutional mantra that all men [people] are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. Now that the door is open on the discussion of unalienable [civil] rights, let’s demand the basic and intrinsic civil right of life for all persons, born and preborn,” Dr. King insists.
“On the wings of 50th anniversary of The Civil Rights Act enacted July 2, 1964 are the cries of the aborted babies. While the landmark legislation outlawed major forms of racial, ethnic, national, religious, minority, and female discrimination, people in the womb were left out.”
“Mr. Lewis’s misleading story must be corrected immediately — anything less would mean that the Associated Press no longer values the truth,” she concluded.
Dear Deacon John,
If you need a reason to look forward to Mondays, this is it! Mondays are the days we update all the reports of babies spared from abortion during your 40 Days for Life vigils.
Thus far during this 40 Days for Life campaign, we have reports of …
… 36 babies saved … that we know of!
Here are just a few of those stories.
Dan noticed a young mom he had recognized from earlier in the day, sitting on the doorsteps. “I asked her if she was going to be OK,” he said. She responded, “What did you tell my boyfriend?”
Dan told her, “Probably what I tell them all – go inside and get her out of there! The time is NOW to save your baby’s life!”
The woman looked surprised. “Seriously? That’s all you said? Somehow, you lit him up. And it worked. He talked me out of it.”
“I was dumbstruck; but not for long,” Dan said. “I told her about the free help across the street. She said she would check it out.”
Edward is leading the 40 Days for Life vigil in Ghana. “God has been good to us,” he said.
“I received a phone call from a lady around 2:57 am on September 26,” he said. The message – “I have decided to keep my pregnancy if there is HOPE!”
“After the first day, one baby saved,” Edward said. “Amen!”
St. Louis, Missouri
Brian in St. Louis says one of the prayer volunteers approached a young woman as she was pulling into Planned Parenthood, and offered to take her across the street to Thrive’s mobile medical unit.
Patricia, the volunteer – who gives credit to the Holy Spirit for this turnaround – said the woman was surprised but grateful for the alternate opportunity provided by Thrive.
“Sometimes,” Brian said, “all it takes are the prayers of some faithful volunteers and a brochure to help women realize that there ARE other options besides the abortion agenda of Planned Parenthood.”
Here’s today’s devotional from Rev. Paul Stallsworth, president of Lifewatch (United Methodist Church)…
Day 6 intention
That knowing the shortness of life, all may value it more deeply.
Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed, or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the well. Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.
— Ecclesiastes 12:6-7
Reflection by Rev. Paul Stallsworth
God is giver of all life. Short lived or long lived, human lives are lived out in this world. The metaphors for death are many. But their meaning is clear and singular: all will die. Even so, death is not the absolute end. It is not the end of the story. For as certainly as God gave life, at death the life or spirit that God gave returns to God.
By God, we are created. For God, we live our given days. To God, we return at the end of our earthly days. And with God, we live through eternity. Clearly, all along the way, this gracious, loving God is with us. No human life is random or alone. No human life was created without purpose. Not one human life is without destiny.
All human lives, acknowledged or not, are related to God — from beginning, to end, throughout eternity. Therefore, in this world, all human lives are to be respected and protected, for their lives are signs of God’s sovereignty.
O God, we too often try to live in ways that ignore our coming death. We forget that our days are numbered by You, that at the end of our days your judgment awaits, that You are the Lord of our destiny.
Help us to repent daily, and then to live each day in joyful obedience. Lead us to live in the light and promise of eternity. Prepare us to live fully and sacrificially. Prepare us to die faithfully and hopefully, so that we might live forever with You. Through Jesus Christ, who has gone before us, we trust and hope and love and pray, Amen.

Put Jesus in the first place!

Dear Family of Mary!
“Dear children! Also today I call you to prayer. May your relationship with prayer be a daily one. Prayer works miracles in you and through you, therefore, little children, may prayer be a joy for you. Then your relationship with life will be deeper and more open and you will comprehend that life is a gift for each of you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(September 25, 2013)
Yesterday we were joyfully busy with Mary TV tasks. Denis and I prayed the Rosary again in our studio, with the expert help of Josip, KiKi and Ivan. It is so different to have a crew helping us. We also taped a beautiful testimony of an American Priest. And then Rosie asked me to share a little bit about the Evening of Prayer at St. Stephen’s Cathedral for Tea with Rosie! Add to that Holy Mass, and prayer at St. James and you have quite a day! There is so much life in Medjugorje, so many opportunities to receive and share graces! Wow!
I want to finish the transcript of Marija’s talk given on September 28 (but I have only did another third of it). Many have shared that it is nice to have the written version, so they can pray over what Marija says. So here is part two of Marija’s talk:
Without God we do not have God or eternal life. And that is why she has been inviting us to conversion. She said, “Leave sin behind. Give up on sin. Renounce it and embrace holiness.” It’s difficult to renounce our habits which we do every day and by which we are attached to sin. But Our Lady says to us that her desire is that we become her extended hands. In the moment when we become her extended hands, we become her instruments, and we will start feeling the joy of being her instruments because we will see that that desert that is around us and often inside of us will start blossoming. In that moment we will feel gratitude in our heart. Our Lady invites us to be the instrument through our prayers and our joy. Our Lady invites us day by day to start a serious walk, a walk of conversion.
Already in the first months Our Lady was inviting us to choose a priest to be our spiritual guide so that we can walk together with his help in a serious way, so that we are able to be guided through God’s commandments. Our Lady said to us, reflect upon the life of the Saints and follow what they did. Once during an extraordinary apparition Our Lady invited us to go to a place not far from our house, and after our everyday apparitions Our Lady invited us to an extraordinary apparition that was a second apparition of that day. And we understood that Our Lady would say something important, and that is exactly what happened.
Our Lady appeared and then we started recommending to her all our intentions, all our prayers and all we had in our heart. We started to recommend all the sick people and those who recommended themselves to our prayers. And then Our Lady said to us that all of us there were able to come closer and touch her. Then we six visionaries said to her, “Our Lady, how would that be possible? Because they can’t see you, it is only the six of us who can see you.” But Our Lady said to us, “You take their hands and bring them closer to me.” And that is exactly what we did. Step by step, everyone had the experience of touching Our Lady. And everyone could feel her presence. And they really all of them had an experience of Our Lady’s special presence. Some people felt cold, some warmth, some felt electricity, but everyone believed that Our Lady was there. But we [the visionaries] when everyone was touching Our Lady could see that on her dress there were some dirty spots remaining. Smaller ones and bigger ones. And in a certain moment the dress of Our Lady was dirty. We started crying and we said, “Why did your dress become this dirty?” And then Our Lady said, “Those were our sins that made it dirty. Return to the Church. Choose a priest who will guide you, will help you to know what is sin and not sin.” She invited us to monthly confession. And then I remember that the day after, none of us wanted Our Lady’s dress to be dirty again. The following morning we went to the church to look for our parish priest, Fr. Jozo, and we all wanted to go to confession. And then step by step, Fr. Jozo started calling all the priests from the neighborhood to come and help. And today, Medjugorje has become the greatest confessional of the world, where every pilgrim is invited to go and reconcile with God.
She who is the Queen of peace is inviting us to become instruments of that peace. And Our Lady invites us to become her extended hands in this world, where our mission is to do it in our homes, in the place of our work where we can live our mission. In what way? I would say with the example of your personal life, with your everyday example, with prayer, love, and with all those things to which our Lady invites us in her messages.
She invites us to put the Holy Bible in a visible place in our homes. So that every day we can read the Bible and pray, and to put into practice what we learn.
To the Apparition Hill, the place where Our Lady appeared for the first time, Podbrdo as we call it, we were happy to go up there with her. Because we said to you, Our Lady said that she had chosen that place there on the hill. In the beginning it was nothing, thorny bushes, rocks and stones. Before it had no significance, but now because of her presence and her apparitions there that place has become so important for us and for our parish. But Our Lady did not stop up on the hill.
At a certain moment, the communist police stopped us from going up the hill. They stopped us because they said that land belonged to the state. And Fr Jozo at that time, the parish priest was kneeling in the church, saying to the Lord, “You are present in the Blessed Sacrament, and people are passing by the church and heading up the hill towards those thorny bushes, rocks and stones. We did not understand, because her presence and her love transformed us and attracted us, and then we started following her. Then the soldiers came, the army came and then they stopped us from going up the hill. And so we asked Our Lady what we should do, and Our Lady we said, “Go to the Church. There you will be protected.” And that is exactly what happened. We started praying. We started asking in what way and how we could go to the church. We asked three times, “Our Lady, to you mean the building?” That is because we did not want to put Father Jozo in a difficulty. We knew that he was very suspicious. And poor Fr. Jozo was praying in humility, Lord what am I to do? And God spoke to him through the reading of Sacred Scripture. He opened the Bible and read the lines “They are my beloved children.” In that moment we came into the church and we said, “Fr. Jozo, Our Lady is sending us. We desire to listen to her message. And Our Lady said we should pray and listen.
And so we started to pray in the church until the moment when Our Lady appeared. And then Our Lady told us what we were to do. She was saying to put Jesus in the first place. Ask your priest to say Mass, and with so much joy in our hearts, we said yes. And I remember that particular moment at that time when the people here worked in the fields and we were all children of peasants and we worked in the fields. But after their work in the fields they would go home, wash and then come to the church. We would pray the love and pray with the heart. And the church was obedient. The living church, the church of people filled this building of our church. There were people saying yes to Our Lady’s call, yes to God, yes to fasting, yes to daily mass, and then Our Lady understood that she could count on us. And she said to us that she needed us. She said she desired to present us to her Son as a most beautiful flower bouquet.

I will have to finish up the transcription tomorrow!
One last piece of news! Tonight, I was told that the statue in Vicka’s parent’s old house that has been displaying unusual light was removed from its spot in the prayer room by the parish. We do not know any details. But it is good to know that the parish is involved in the phenomenon. More to come!!

“Medjugorje is the spiritual center of the world!”
Dear Deacon John,
Just one item today – but a powerful one. Here’s a letter that a young woman left at a 40 Days for Life vigil site – simply addressed “to the sign people.”
If this doesn’t show the importance of your peaceful witness outside the abortion centers … I don’t know what does!
To the sign people
My friend had left me the use of her apartment as she was away … perfect because it was right where the clinic was!
The next day, I saw you people lining up with signs … I watched from the window every day and all day you were there! Different folks each time.
I had this idea in my head that abortion picketers were extremists … no “normal” person would do that sort of thing. Yet you did not look extreme … more ordinary.
Tuesday was my pre-procedure appointment. Used the wrong entrance and had to walk past you. So what, I thought. Who cares? They don’t know me or where I am going. As I walked past (hurriedly!), my legs felt like they weighed a ton. What was going on? Are these people intimidating me? Do I need to feel ashamed as I walk past? The receptionist told me to “ignore them” when I asked about you.
Every day I watched you. One day I thought for sure no one would be there. Weather forecast was calling for severe winds and rain. There in the afternoon, amid strong winds which were blowing the signs over the head and onto the grass, you stood. Three or four together. All day!
The next day I took a walk and followed you in the direction where everyone seemed to go. It was a church. After everyone left, I went inside and saw all the signs, flyer. Impressive set-up, I thought. They seem organized in their purpose!
On Friday was my scheduled appointment for my procedure. I was suddenly terrified of what was to be. My heart was almost beating out of my chest.
My boyfriend, who had promised to come the day before, did not show up to take me. Said he was tied up and that ultimately it was my choice to have it that day or wait til next week. My choice. But he’s not there to hold my hand! Lots of weighing pros and cons.
Anyhow, I want to let you know that I decided to keep my baby. The boyfriend is still a distance away but maybe he needs time to come around and see the big picture.
The reason I decided to leave you this note is to tell you that what you did was good. I felt I owed it to you for all the days you stood there in hope that others would take notice. I noticed – and in turn it gave me hope that others I know would also care to “stand for me.”
It’s a crazy world we live in … but some seem to know how to see the good in it.
Here’s today’s devotional from Rev. Ben Sheldon, president emeritus of Presbyterians Pro-Life…
Day 5 intention
May the truth of the final judgment shape our thoughts, priorities, and choices here on earth.
The King will answer and say to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”
— Matthew 25:31-46
Reflection by Rev. Ben Sheldon
Caring for others is not optional.
Jesus’ picture of the final judgment concludes with this sobering word: the wicked, who failed to care for others in their various needs (e.g., the hungry, the thirsty, the aliens, the naked, the sick, the imprisoned) will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous who did seek to meet those needs will end up with him, enjoying eternal life.
We know that this was no parable! Jesus has given us fair warning! Everything in God’s Word points to the truth that compassionate concern and practical care for all people, especially for the poor, the destitute, the weak and needy is required of us, if indeed we hope to escape the punishment of the fire of hell.
And who are the poor and needy, if not helpless, unborn babies, as well as the aged and infirm at the other end of life? Surely the “least of these” embraces not only those at both ends of the continuum of life, but all others in between.
Just how we, as Christ’s true followers, respond to his admonition “inasmuch as you did it to the least of these, you did it to me” will determine whether we enjoy eternal bliss in his presence or the bleak and dreadful reality of eternal punishment in hell. Nothing in God’s Word could be clearer!
Gracious and merciful Father, we gladly embrace your Word that counsels us to care for the least of your children, and we renew our dedication to defending the unborn and all whose right to life is compromised by our godless society’s selfish lack of concern. Free us from our own failures and sins so that we will be truly pro-life in every area of our lives. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
