Gosnell Movie “America’s Biggest Serial Killer” Will Tell Story of Abortionist Who Killed Babies Born Alive
He is the abortion practitioner who killed babies in live-birth abortions that were more akin to infanticide than abortion. The media virtually ignored Kermit Gosnell until the pro-life movement launched a concerned effort to call them out on their bias during the early stages of his trial for murder.

Now, Gosnell is prison, having been convicted of murder in the deaths of multiple babies, though he was accused of killing thousands of viable babies. Still, one report from Gallup showed a large percentage of Americans still have no idea who Gosnell is and what he did. A new crowd-funded campaign for a Gosnell movie hopes to change that. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/31/gosnell-movie-americas-biggest-serial-killer-will-tell-story-of-abortionist-who-killed-babies-born-alive/

Nine Years Ago Today, Terri Schiavo Lived Her Last Day
On March 30, 2005, Terri Schiavo had her last full day of life on this earth and both her family and Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life will never forget the last moments they shared with the woman whose former husband won a court order to take her life.

Terri was killed on March 31, 2005 when her former husband won a protracted legal battle against the Schindler family for the right to disconnect her feeding tube. Doctors who examined Terri say she was not in a persistent vegetative state and that her condition could have been improved has she been given access to more medical care and rehabilitative treatment. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/30/nine-years-ago-today-terri-schiavo-lived-her-last-day/

Mom With Cancer Sacrifices Her Life for Her Baby, Refuses Abortion
A mom in New York City was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice – she was willing to sacrifice her own life for someone else.

When Elizabeth Joice found out she was pregnant, she was overcome with joy because doctors told her she would never be able to have children. But doctors then told her that she would be forced to make a decision to take the live of her unborn baby to begin cancer treatment or put her own life in danger by forgoing it. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/31/mom-with-cancer-sacrifices-her-life-for-her-baby-refuses-abortion/

321 Babies Saved From Abortion So Far During 40 Days for Life
I was in Charlotte, North Carolina last week and have amazing news from that city. But first, there is even better news. Already in this 40 Days for Life campaign, we’ve had reports of 321 babies that have been saved from abortion! Praise God for His mercy and love!

This Little Baby May Have Died But Why Should She be Incinerated for Heat?
The revelation that British hospitals have been burning thousands of aborted and miscarried babies as clinical waste and in some cases to heat the hospitals has caused official consternation, but it is hardly surprising.

If medical professionals are permitted – no, expected – to dismember (amongst other things) the bodies of living babies when carrying out abortions, is it any wonder that they lack respect for those same babies’ dead bodies or for the bodies of miscarried babies at the same stage of development? http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/31/this-little-baby-may-have-died-but-why-should-she-be-incinerated-for-heat/

Social Justice Movement Ought to Recognize Human Rights for Unborn Children
The modern social justice movement can be described as a loose union of movements that oppose institutionalized injustice in various forms—racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and many more.

It’s seen as a single movement because all forms of oppression share certain characteristics: most importantly, that they are systems of injustice perpetuated by the entire culture, not merely collections of unrelated incidents. One of these axes of oppression, though not often recognized by the mainstream social justice movement, is adultism—the idea that adults are the “default” human beings, and the less adult-like a person is, the less valid their existence is. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/03/31/social-justice-movement-ought-to-recognize-human-rights-for-unborn-children/

Baby Born With Heart Outside His Chest, Parents Need Help for Lifesaving Medical Procedure
A baby in India was born with his heart outside of his chest and his parents are desperately trying to fundraise for enough money for a lifesaving medical procedure he desperately needs.

The unnamed baby boy has managed to defy all odds and survive six days with his heart outside of his chest but time is running out and Priyanka and Nirbhay Pal are looking for assistance online to help their little boy. Vanishing Abortionists: Number of Abortion Docs Has Dropped 40%

Their numbers aren’t what they used to be. The downward trend of dwindling abortionists is a problem that’s plagued the abortion industry for decades. Following Roe v. Wade, the number of abortionists in America rose, ultimately peaking at an all-time high of 2,908 in 1982.

‘Life is Beautiful’ Platform holds U.N. to universal pro-life values

Over the years, the United Nations has succumbed to the advances of population control and abortion advocates with an agenda to defy the fundamental right to life to the peoples of all nations.

40 Days for Life

Dear Deacon John,

I was in Charlotte, North Carolina last week and have amazing news from that city. But first, there is even better news

Already in this 40 Days for Life campaign, we’ve had reports of …

321 babies that have been saved from abortion! Praise God for His mercy and love!

There are two reports today. One shows the power of a strong, consistent pro-life witness. The other shows the agony a woman goes through when it’s clear the “choice” to have an abortion is not her own.

Charlotte, North Carolina

John in Charlotte sent a quick note as a follow-up to my recent stop there: “46 saves! Praise God!”

It helps that a local pregnancy center parks its mobile ultrasound RV outside the abortion center – an impossible-to-ignore, positive resource that has encouraged so many women reject abortion.

I had a great visit with the Charlotte team, including Katherine and Andrea, the two women who first brought 40 Days for Life to the area … even before it became a national campaign (their story of courage and success is featured in the 40 Days for Life book).

The abortion center knows the combination of prayer and a determined, life-affirming witness on the sidewalk is hurting business. So their security guard is outside regularly, yelling at volunteers and turning up loud rap music on his car’s sound system in an attempt to silence the prayers.

I saw this for myself! But it isn’t working. Since March 5, it has failed on at least 46 occasions!

Brisbane, Australia

As Carrie, her friend Laura and their children prayed at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Brisbane, a drama played out before their eyes outside the Dr. Marie abortion facility.

“A young woman and her boyfriend were walking in and out of the front door for 10 minutes or so,” Carrie said. “The man kept trying to comfort the woman and hold her hand – and also lead her into the clinic.”

It certainly looked like the woman had no interest in going inside. So they turned away and sat in the garden for a while. Carrie and Laura smiled at them, prayed quietly, and kept watch with the children.

After a time, they walked towards the door again. The man walked up the steps, but the woman stopped, threw her bags down and started crying. She kept looking at the vigil participants’ faces … and the children. “We were just being there,” Carrie said.

They approached the door one more time and the woman still refused to go in again. This time, they left and did not return. The volunteers prayed that this woman would continue to be brave and refuse to abort her child.

“It was profound to be there, keeping watch,” Carrie said. “It is a very sad place to be in the world, but we were there — being light in a dark place.

Today’s devotional is from Rev. Ben Sheldon, president emeritus of Presbyterians for Life.

Day 27 intention

We pray for the gift of openness to children.

Scripture

God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.

And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

— Genesis 1:27-28

Reflection by Rev. Ben Sheldon

God’s intention is that we multiply and fill the earth. One of the most perni-cious lies that sociologists have foisted off on the public is that the earth is be-coming overpopulated.

What kind of a sadistic god would cre-ate the earth and human creatures on it, only to have them literally repro-duce themselves into oblivion?

The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is our divine Creator, has commanded us to multiply and fill the earth and far from letting the popula-tion get out of control, He has, in fact given his human creatures a dominical role over all the lesser creatures.

The “birth control” movement, which had its beginnings with Margaret Sang-er in the early years of the last century, has led, in many parts of the world, to a birthrate that is drastically below the normal replacement rate.

God’s Word assures us that children are a blessing, that they are a reward of faithfully trusting and serving God and that they are the crown of their parents’ old age.

The spread of the contraception men-tality that has so permeated our cul-ture is, undoubtedly, a factor in the ready acceptance of abortion. God’s commandment to multiply and fill the earth has never been withdrawn. May

He help us to accept the gift of children and give him thanks for every baby who is born into the world.

Prayer

Father of mercy and grace, we thank you for the gift of our children. Grant that every fiber of our being may re-joice when a new baby, our own or any else’s, is born into the world. Help us to welcome them as we would welcome you, for whenever a new baby is conceived, another life to bear your image and another voice to praise and worship you, is beginning. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Go to Confession and decide for holiness.

J.M.J

March 31, 2014

Dear Family of Mary!

Day 6 of our Novena to St. Isidore and St. Faustina for the grace to understand and love Confession!

Day 6

Obedience.

From St. Faustina:

Third word – obedience. A disobedient soul will win no victory, even if the Lord Jesus himself, in person, were to hear its confession. The most experienced confessor will be of no help whatsoever to such a soul. The disobedient soul exposes itself to great misfortunes; it will make no progress toward perfection, nor will it succeed in the spiritual life. God lavishes His graces most generously upon the soul, but it must be an obedient soul. [113]

Satan can even clothe himself in a cloak of humility, but he does not know how to wear the cloak of obedience and thus his evil designs will be disclosed. [939]

When I began to prepare for confession, strong temptations against confessors assaulted me. I did not see Satan, but I could sense him, his terrible anger. – “Yes, he’s an ordinary man.” – “Not ordinary, because he has the power of God.” – Yes, it is not difficult for me to accuse myself of my sins. But to uncover the most secret depths of my heart, to give an account of the action of God’s grace, to speak about God’s every demand, about all that goes on between God and myself…. To tell that to a man is beyond my strength. I felt I was fighting against the powers and I cried out: “O Christ, You and the priest are one; I will approach confession as if I were approaching, not a man, but You.” When I entered the confessional, I began by disclosing my difficulties. The priest replied that the best thing I could have done was to disclose these temptations from the outset. However, after the confession, they took flight, and my soul is enjoying peace. [1715]

From Our Lady, Queen of Peace:

“Dear children, I am coming to you as a mother and I desire that in me, as in a mother, you may find your abode, consolation and rest. Therefore, my children, apostles of my love, pray. Pray with humble devotion, obedience and complete trust in the Heavenly Father. Trust as I have trusted when it was said to me that I will bring the blessing of the promise. May out of your hearts, from your lips, always come forth ‘May your will be done!’ Therefore, trust and pray so that I can intercede for you before the Lord, for him to give you the Heavenly Blessing and fill you with the Holy Spirit. Then he will be able to help all those who do not know the Lord – you, apostles of my love, will help them to call him ‘Father’ with complete trust. Pray for your shepherds and place your trust in their blessed hands. Thank you.” 03/02/2014

From Fr. Alfred Wilson:

Sorrow for sin has two aspects, two slants as it were, one backwards and one forward. Looking back, the penitent regrets and detests sin; looking forward, he determines to avoid it.

Determination to avoid both sin and its occasions, in other words, firm purpose of amendment, is the crucial test of the reality of contrition. He who is determined to do his best to avoid sin, undoubtedly has true repentance, even though he feels spiritually dry as a desert and indevout as an iceberg…

If we truly hate sin, we shall do all in our power to avoid it. If, however, we are unwilling to use the means, we deceive ourselves if we fancy that we will the end. Pilate wished to release Our Divine Savior; and he willed it, he could have released Him at once.

The firm purpose of amendment is the most difficult act of the penitent. It is easy enough to have remorse for sin; in fact, unless our conscience has become completely atrophied, remorse is inevitable. It is not so easy to have effective repentance. St. Alphonsus says that most bad confessions are bad through lack of practical amendment; and authorities and citations to confirm his opinion could be multiplied.  (Fr. Alfred Wilson. “Pardon and Peace”)

If we are determined to avoid our sins, we will obey the Lord and His Word. We will place His desire for us above our own desire, and try our best to obey Him. We may not succeed all the time but our attempt to obey Him will keep our heart connected to Him. Our confessions will do us good, not harm, if we are determined to obey.   We also know that the enemy will try to dissuade us from confessing, and from a firm purpose of amendment, but if we resist him, he will flee.  Our trusting and humble prayer and desire to do God’s will will disarm him.

As Our Lady taught us: “Pray with humble devotion, obedience and complete trust in the Heavenly Father. Trust as I have trusted when it was said to me that I will bring the blessing of the promise. May out of your hearts, from your lips, always come forth ‘May your will be done!'”

Let us pray:

Dear Lord Jesus, we ask you to give us a true understanding of the necessity and grandeur of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Help us to recognize You in the confessional, waiting for us, waiting to forgive us and embrace us with Your love and mercy. We need forgiveness. Help us to find our way into Your arms.

St. Isidore, pray for us.

St. Faustina Kowalska, pray for us

St. Augustine, pray for us.

St. Padre Pio, pray for us.

Blessed John Paul II, pray for us.

St. Therese of Lisieux, pray for us.

St. Leopold Mandic, pray for us.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.

Father Slavko Barbaric, pray for us.

Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us.

In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Planned Parenthood planning new abortion clinic in Texas

It’s not a good sign for an abortion clinic’s future when even the abortionist quits. Diane Derzis is infamous in the south as the owner of abortion clinics from Mississippi to Georgia–which keep having problems or being shut down. Now it looks like her Columbus Women’s Health Organization in Georgia will be her next abortion facility destined to die a slow death.

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the constitutionality of HB2, and the three-panel judge was comprised of all women (who, apparently, do not believe that the so-called “war on women” is coming from the pro-life camp). The panel concluded that Texas legislation requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges does not place an undue burden on women and abortionists, suggesting that it is in fact a boon to women’s health and well-being. Read more…

Heroic Sidewalk Counselors Save Twins From Abortion

It’s always a huge blessing when God answers your prayers … and a mother chooses life … and spares her baby. But how about when the Lord hears those prayers … softens one woman’s heart … and saves two babies!

Another baby

We recently announced to family, friends and co-workers that we are expecting our fourth child.

Consider marrying young

“But let me put in a word for startup marriages, in which the success of the partners isn’t yet assured. The groom with his new architecture degree is still designing stairwells, and the bride is starting her third year of medical school. Their income doesn’t leave them impoverished, but they have to watch every penny.”

40 Days for Life

Dear Deacon John,

There are stories of God’s blessings and God’s victories at 40 Days for Life vigils. But there are also stories of pain. There are hearts that are hurting in this battle to end abortion, and they all need your prayers.

As you pray this Sunday, particularly at church, please ask the Lord to share His grace with those who are suffering … and that He will provide the spiritual healing they so desperately need – and can find only in Christ.

Sacramento, California

While people prayed in the rain at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Sacramento, Wynette – the local coordinator – watched a scene unfold outside the abortion center.

“Several abortion business employees huddled together, holding their umbrellas, as they took turns hugging one abortion worker in particular,” she said … wondering what was going on.

A few minutes later, that worker exited the driveway right in front of Wynette and rolled down the car window, ignoring the falling rain.

“I’ve had enough!” the distraught worker called out. “I hate this place! I quit!”

“I cannot say much more,” Wynette said … but she added that the worker asked for prayer.

She encouraged prayer “for all abortion industry employees, in hopes that they would discontinue their involvement in destroying lives and hurting women.

“I’ve been there”

One of the prayer volunteers (I’m keeping the location confidential) tried her level best to convince a young couple to reject abortion and spare their baby.

She poured her heart out. But the pair walked into the abortion center and kept their appointment, and the vigil participant was overcome with a profound sense of failure.

“She came to us totally sobbing,” said the local leader. “You could see her soul with so much pain.”

Once she was able to speak, she told the other members of the team that she had an abortion — “not only once. I had four abortions and helped two other women get abortions. That makes six. This is too much — too much pain I’m bearing.”

One of the other volunteers knew the feeling – all too well. “I’ve been there,” she said, as she began to minister to the other woman. This vigil participant acknowledged that she’d had an abortion, but had experienced recovery and found forgiveness.

The volunteers shared information about healing after abortion with their friend, who was still in tears. “We were able to pray with her and her healing began,” the leader said. Still, the woman felt the need to return to the vigil.

“I just want to save a baby,” she said.

Today’s devotional is from Fr. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life.

Day 26 intention

Pray that we fully recognize in the unborn child our brother, our sister, and we recommit ourselves to care for them.

Scripture

Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”

“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.”

— Genesis 4:8-10

Reflection by Fr. Frank Pavone

After Cain committed the first murder in human history, God asked him, “Where is your brother?”

He replied by saying, “I don’t know.”

In 1973, the Supreme Court was asked the same question, and gave the same answer.

Unable to admit that the unborn children are our brothers and sisters, the Supreme Court said in its Roe v. Wade ruling, “We need not resolve the difficult question of when life begins.”

Boil all that down to three words, and it’s, “I don’t know.”

The question, “Where is your brother?” will be asked at the final judgment. Each person will answer it and be judged by it. May we be judged to have recognized and loved all our brothers and sisters, born and unborn.

By participating in the 40 Days for Life, we have been answering that question each day, going to where our brothers and sisters are killed, and proclaiming that we have a responsibility to them.

By all the pro-life work we will continue to do, we likewise answer that question which reaches from one end of human history to the other.

Prayer

Father, today we hear your voice, and we respond to the question you ask each of us: “Where is your brother?”

We recognize in the unborn child our brother, our sister, and we recommit ourselves today to care for them.

Yes, Father, you have entrusted us to the care of one another. We rejoice that you have given us the grace to respond.

As we work to renew our culture, we look forward to the great day of the coming of your Son, when every eye will see him, even of those who pierced him, and every knee shall bend, and every tongue confess, to the glory of God the Father, that Jesus Christ is Lord! Amen.

Dear Family of Mary!

Day 5 of our Novena to St. Isidore and St. Faustina for the grace to understand and love Confession!

From Saint Faustina:

Humility

Second word – humility. A soul does not benefit as it should from the sacrament of confession if it is not humble. Pride keeps it in darkness. The soul neither knows how, nor is it willing, to probe with precision the depths of its own misery. It puts on a mask and avoids everything that might bring it recovery. [113]

Concerning Holy Confession. We should derive two kinds of profit from Holy Confession:

1. We come to confession to be healed;

2. We come to be educated – like a small child, our soul has constant need of education.

O my Jesus, I understand these words to their very depths, and I know from my own experience that, on its own strength, the soul will not go far; it will exert itself greatly and will do nothing for the glory of God; it will err continually, because our mind is darkened and does not know how to discern its own affairs. [377]

Satan wants just this: to have the person who is aspiring for sanctity direct himself because then, without doubt, he will never attain it. [938].

Our Lady speaks:

“Dear children! In the great love of God, I come to you today to lead you on the way of humility and meekness. The first station on that way, my children, is confession. Reject your arrogance and kneel down before my Son. Comprehend, my children, that you have nothing and you can do nothing. The only thing that you have and that you possess is sin. Be cleansed and accept meekness and humility. My Son could have won with strength, but He chose meekness, humility and love. Follow my Son and give me your hands so that, together, we may climb the mountain* and win. Thank you.” (July 2, 2007)

Fr. Wilson writes:

Pride

Has my spirituality been merely a quest for personal excellence?

Am I seeking a reputation for humility rather than the reality of humility?

Have I failed to take leadership or strong action for fear of being thought proud or ambitious? In other words, do I prefer to be proud rather than to be thought proud?

Have I fished for praise with the bait of false modesty?

Have I refused responsibility for fear that prominence might reveal my limitations?

Are the main causes of my joys and sorrows the gratification or frustration of vanity?

When anyone is praised, is my first impulse always to belittle; in other words, do I suffer from jealousy based on pride?

Have I boasted of my achievements, wealth, et cetera? Dressed ostentatiously?

Have I been too proud to accept well-merited correction, even from my confessor/ When I have been corrected have I sulked and adopted the pose of the misunderstood injured- innocent? Have I dispensed myself from heeding a correction by presuming that my superior or confessor was merely depressed or liverish and that he will get over it?

Is my neighbor a darling when he agrees with me, and a pig-headed egoist when he doesn’t?

Am I something of a “private pontiff”?

(Fr. Alfred Wilson. “Pardon and Peace.”)

Again, the remedy for this lamentable frame of mind is to love God more than we love ourselves. It is to take the unholy trinity of “Me, Myself and I” out of the center and put God in the center of our lives. Humility is loving God to distraction and seeing ourselves in the light of day, with all our limitations and weaknesses, existing only and always because of God’s love for us.
