Democrats Prevent House Passage of Late-Term Abortion Ban
House Democrats objected to a bill that would stop the policy of unlimited abortions for any reason throughout the entirety of pregnancy in the nation s capital. The bill to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy in D.C. needed a two-thirds vote but enough Democrats voted against the measure to prevent it from going to the Senate.

The bill received a supportive vote of 220 to 154 with Republicans voting 203 to 6 for the bill and Democrats voting 148 to 17 against it.

Obamacare s Pro-Abortion HHS Mandate Takes Effect Tomorrow
Despite one positive ruling in a case allowing a company to be exempted from the Obamacare HHS mandate, the pro-abortion mandate that pro-life groups strenuously oppose will take effect tomorrow.

A memo from the Catholic Association explains how the ruling was a positive step but not sufficient to stop the mandate nationwide.

Last week, a federal court dealt a major blow to the Department of Health and Human Services mandate requiring employers to provide contraception, sterilization, and abortion-causing drugs in their healthcare plans, it said.

China: Newborn Girl Found in Trash With Throat Cut, Fights for Life
Another ghastly story is coming out of China, where women and children continued to be victimized daily by the one-child policy that nation employs which encourages abortions and infanticides.

In this new story, an abandoned newborn baby girl is struggling for her life after a local man found her in a trash bin after having her throat cut. The bay girl, who still had her placenta and umbilical cord attached, is now receiving hospital treatment, according to a report in the London Daily Mail newspaper.

Obama Admin Not Charging Nidal Hasan With Killing Unborn Baby
I have written recently of President Obama s covert zeal for the spread of abortion. I took that phrase from Abraham Lincoln s description of how President Franklin Pierce and Sen. Stephen A. Douglas sought covertly to spread slavery in the 1850s. In that column, I noted specific actions of this president to advance abortion-on-demand and to force us all to pay for it.

Now, I want to focus on something Mr. Obama is not doing. He is not charging Nidal Hasan, the accused Fort Hood killer, with violation of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (UVVA). This law was passed and signed in 2004. After the highly publicized conviction of Scott Peterson in California for the murder of his wife and her unborn child, the law was named the Laci and Conner Peterson Unborn Victims of Violence Act.

Six former Vatican ambassadors have banded together to lead a new outreach for Mitt Romney presidential campaign to encourage Catholic voters to support him over pro-abortion President Barack Obama in November. The issue of abortion is one of the reasons for their decision to endorse Romney, as they explain in a new letter announcing the effort.

When Democrats in Congress pushed the Obamacare bill through, pro-life groups warned about rationing that could take place as a result. Although liberal groups and the mainstream media laughed at the projections, they are now coming to pass.

Prayer Vigil Celebrates Effort to Keep Planned Parenthood Out
Eleven months ago, 400 pro-life activists gathered in front of an empty building in Auburn Hills, Michigan to protest Planned Parenthood s plan to use the building for an abortion clinic. Meanwhile, pleadings with the owners of the property resulted in a judgment that the building would not go to Planned Parenthood. This called for a celebration.

On Saturday July 28, I joined a party at the Comfort Inn, whose owners cooperated in keeping the abortion clinic out of the neighborhood.

Obama administration chooses Planned Parenthood 

over women’s health

The Obama administration’s decision this month to award $3.1 million in federal funds to Planned Parenthood affiliates and other family planning groups in New Jersey comes as no surprise. Despite the $15 trillion national debt, the administration seems willing to keep borrowing to support the nation’s largest abortion provider. And this isn’t the first time the Obama administration has stepped in to ensure that taxpayer dollars continue to flow to its favorite abortion provider even at the expense of women’s health care.  

A fact ignored by the WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) recently released “Born Too Soon,” the first country-by-country comparison of national rates of pre-term birth. This 125-page report, funded by dozens of public agencies and private foundations, claims to be “the global action report on preterm birth.” Hidden in its pages is a story of what must be better understood to help women carry a healthy baby to term. . . . Unfortunately, one significant, and modifiable, risk factor for preterm birth was completely ignored by the WHO report: prior termination of pregnancy. There is a large and growing body of scientific data documenting this risk factor for pre-term birth. More than 120 peer-reviewed studies, from more than a dozen countries, have found a statistically significant increased risk of preterm birth or low-birth weight after a termination of pregnancy.

The Vivificat reports: As many of your know already, The Holy Father has named Bishop Salvatore Cordileone of Oakland as the new Archbishop of San Francisco. He will be succeeding Archbishop George Niederauer, who is retiring for health reasons.

Bishop Cordileone has been instrumental in the drawing of Proposition 8, which outlawed same-sex marriage (SSM) in California, a fact not lost on defenders of SSM, whose reactions range from consternation to outright anger and even hatred by supposedly Christian ministers. According to the San Francisco Examiner,

Asked at a Friday news conference about his support for Proposition 8 in 2008, Cordileone stressed that the church remains open to LGBT individuals.

“We need to learn, continue to learn, how to be welcoming — let them know that we love them and we want to help them, and that our stand for marriage is not against anyone, but it’s because we believe this is foundational for the good of our society,” Cordileone said.

As Archbishop of San Francisco, Bishop Cordileone will continue with his duty to proclaim by word and example to a mostly unreceptive audience the teaching of the Catholic Church regarding chastity and homosexuality, as explained in the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

Chastity and homosexuality

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.”141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. They do not choose their homosexual condition; for most of them it is a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

The world, the devil, and the flesh reject this simple message, calling “bigots” and “haters” those who uphold it. Therefore, let us pray for the success of Archbishop Cordileone’s new mission in the Church, as well as for his physical and spiritual protection.

WASHINGTON, July 31, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ — There will be a news conference, prayer vigil and civil disobedience at the White House on Wednesday, August, 1 at 3:00 P.M. 

The activists will be gathering on Pennsylvania Ave. NW in front of the White House on the Lafayette Park side. 

The HHS mandate, which will force people of faith and conscience to violate their deeply held values and convictions, takes effect for many companies and individuals on August 1. 

The mandate would force Christians and people of good will to provide abortion inducing-drugs and sterilization in their health care coverage even though it violates their religious beliefs and conscience. 

We agree with Cardinal Dolan when he says, “No government has the right to intrude into the affairs of the Church, much less coerce, the Church faithful to engage or cooperate in any way with immoral practices.” 

The vigil and witness on Wednesday is a preview of a larger national event taking place at the White House called Actsfive29. (Go to for more information.) 

On September 29-October 2 people from all across the nation are coming to the White House to take part in Actsfive29 which will include 72 hours of continual prayer, public witness and arrests. 

Wednesday’s activities are being led by long time and revered pro-life activist Joan Andrews Bell, Chris Slattery, Founder of Expectant Mother Care in New York City, and the Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition. 


Chris Slattery comments;

    “August 1 marks a new day of infamy when the Obama Administration undermines the religious liberty of all Americans. We strongly protest the imposition of a new Obama religious test and immoral health care mandate which offends and degrades millions of Americans. 

    “This mandate forces all to be complicit in paying for Obama’s anti-religion and anti-life values.”


Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, adds;

    “Benjamin Franklin stated, ‘Freedom is not a gift bestowed upon us by other men, but a right that belongs to us by the laws of God and nature.’ Sadly, the Obama Administration is dictating to people of faith and conscience how they are to live their values in the public square. 

    “If President Obama can force Christian individuals, institutions and businesses to abandon their core values and follow the dictates of the government in violation of what they know to be true, then religious freedom and the First Amendment are dead. 

    “The faith community can never be silent or indifferent when it comes to matters of justice, human rights and religious freedom. As we gather in front of the White House we are sending a powerful message to our President and political leaders that we will never comply with unjust and immoral government mandates.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the Chick-fil-A controversy:
Dan Cathy, president of Chick-fil-A, has said that we are “inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.’” How this unremarkable statement, which never mentions homosexuals, can be labeled anti-gay is astounding. But according to the editorial board of the New York Times, it can be. After quoting Cathy, the Times says, “Antigay remarks like these are offensive.”

 It won’t work. According to this logic, almost everyone who ever walked the face of the earth has been an anti-homosexual bigot. Such hyperbole relegates real gay bashing to the trash bin, something to be discarded with alacrity.

 Nature, and Nature’s God, has ordained that marriage is the exclusive province of a man and a woman; they are the only two people capable of naturally creating a family. But now, all of a sudden, we are expected to believe that such a pedestrian view is wrongheaded. Worse, there is a growing segment of the population, overwhelmingly white and well-educated, who want to punish those who hold to the traditional view. This is madness laced with fascistic elements.
