Deacon John,

When we pray, fast and exercise our right to assemble during a 40 Days for Life vigil … we in the United States celebrate the freedoms many have died to preserve.

If there is one thing to know when you exercise the freedom to vote, it’s this: Elections have consequences

… consequences for the family, consequences for religious liberty and consequences for the unborn child in the womb.

As Election Day approaches, our nation needs prayer … and our minds need clarity.

In our newest podcast episode, we discuss the concerns many are facing in this election — the struggle to separate personal preference from the issues at hand … and the responsibility of voting pro-life on behalf of those who have no voice.

40 Days for Life board chair Matt Britton and I discuss these important topics with our special guest, Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life, on this election edition of the 40 Days for Life podcast.

The sidewalk in Fort Collins, Colorado was so packed that it was difficult for some of the folks in the back to hear our speakers. Of all the problems to encounter on this tour, a big crowd is one we’ll gladly take!

Sen. Vicki Marble encouraged volunteers on behalf of the Susan B. Anthony List, while Mary Beth from Silent No More spoke of how, after having two abortions herself, she empowered her abortion-minded daughter to choose life. As a result, she now has an 8-year-old grandchild!

Some abortion centers try to spruce up their images with deceptively euphemistic names. The Boulder Abortion Clinic is not one of them.

This building in Boulder, Colorado is one of the saddest in the world; but neither that atmosphere nor the presence of a handful of hecklers deterred about 70 people from standing vigil with us today.

Jenny, who represents a local pregnancy center, said many of their clients are referred to them directly from the 40 Days for Life vigil.

Colorado Springs is hosting its first 40 Days for Life campaign since a tragic shooting at the local Planned Parenthood that was carried out last year by a lone, deranged gunman.

The faithful prayer volunteers we met at the UNITED vigil stop are praying harder than ever, recognizing that the antidote to the violence of abortion must always be peace, love and nonviolence.

The Colorado state rally in Denver featured more than 200 attendees standing in the dark across from one of the largest Planned Parenthood abortion centers in America.

Colorado was the first American state to legalize abortion — six years before Roe v. Wade — and the people here are determined to end the grave injustice that began here.

Next stop: Wyoming!

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to stand.

— Ephesians 6:12-13

Dear Lord, as you lead us into the spiritual battle of abortion may we be reminded that the battle is truly Yours. Thank you for hearing our requests for direction and protection. Thank you for the victory that is ours because of Your Son Jesus.
