15th Sunday of Ordinary Time
We may be on this earth for 10 years or 100 years. Why are we here? Some believe we are placed here on trial, simply to pass through, to avoid sin and to get to heaven. Others say (and I agree with them) that we are here to make a difference. Like the twelve apostles in today’s Gospel, we are sent by Jesus to share and to live the good news. We love God and we will be with God only if we reach out to love thy neighbor.
Supporting Catholic Medical Mission Board is one specific way in which we can make a difference. It encourages us to look beyond ourselves, to see the suffering and needs of thousands, and then to come to their assistance by donations of medicines and by medical assistance through its volunteer program.
Lord God, Heavenly Father, Your Son came not to be served but to serve. Bless all those who follow in His steps and give themselves to the service of their fellow men. Endow them with wisdom, patience and courage, to strengthen the weak and raise up those who fall. Being inspired by Your love, may they minister to the suffering the sick, the friendless, and the needy. We pray in His name, Christ our Lord.
