The Tragic Results of Planned Parenthood’s Political Victory

Our children are inundated with propaganda that tells them that promiscuity and sexual experience are part of growing up and exploring their worlds and their lives. They are told that any behavior or feelings are right and good and that no one, not even parents, should tell them otherwise. They are taught to trust only their feelings or to close their minds to others who do not view abstinence as something for which to strive. And because of this, children are hurt and babies are murdered. Today’s commentary addresses this mindset, brought upon by none other than Planned Parenthood and its advocates. “End this pregnancy and tie her tubes.” That was the stark advice given by a court-summoned doctor in a possible forced abortion case involving a mentally handicapped woman in Nevada, according to a transcript of a Nov. 1 hearing obtained by LifeSiteNews. Judge Egan Walker of Nevada’s 2nd District Court is holding evidentiary hearings to determine whether to order 32-year-old Elisa Bauer to have an abortion against the wishes of her adoptive parents and legal guardians, Bill and Amy Bauer of Fernley.

Planned Parenthood filed a federal lawsuit Friday to stop the State Department of Health from discontinuing the organization’s WIC services at the end of the year. In late September, the State Department of Health decided not to renew its WIC contract with Planned Parenthood. The CEO of the Planned Parenthood said then that she thought the decision was politically motivated, which the Department of Health denies. Officials cited the program’s relatively high cost per participant and decrease in case loads, as well as faulty billing practices as the reasons for the contract termination. The Women, Infant and Children program provides supplemental nutrition assistance to low-income women who are pregnant or have recently given birth, as well as to children younger than five.

The Austin-based pro-life media group Heroic Media has released a new video for National Adoption Month to encourage women with unexpected pregnancies to consider adoption. “Most women don’t understand the feeling of empowerment adoption brings,” Marissa Cope, Heroic Media’s Director of Marketing, Communications and Research, said Nov. 12. “We believe this video will alert women to a possibility they may not have yet considered and ultimately save the lives of unborn children.” Cope said fewer than one percent of women with unplanned pregnancies choose adoption, even though there are 30 to 40 couples desiring to adopt for every adoptive baby.
