Father Elias deplores attack on the Church of St. Anthony in Ducks

Vandal attack worries clergy and diocese of Ducks. Another parish was vandalized and two sacred images, St. Joseph and Our Lady of Fatima, were desecrated in the early hours of Holy Thursday, April 21. This time the target was the Mother of St. Anthony, whose parochial vicar Father Elias Ramalho.

The suspect of the whole atrocity is the young Leonardo Cavalcanti and Silva, who suffers from mental disorders (schizophrenia), probably now 25 or 26 years of age, he already has been accused on several occasions to destroy sacred images in some Parishes outside the Diocese of Patos. 

With more invaded this church, the figure is closer to 07 (seven). 02 (two) times the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guia (center) and respectively, Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Square Edivaldo Mota), Our Lady of Fatima (Belo Horizonte), Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Fra Damiano, a former Hill), Santa Luzia (Castle Hill) and now San Antonio, in the neighborhood of the same name.

Suspicions point that the attacker entered the church with a motorcycle. He had forced entry to the vehicle that broke the window and left tire marks on the Doors. After destroying the images, even forced the side door with intent to flee. Could not, the suspect returned the vehicle and walked out the front door you entered. 

Churches, priests and the diocese itself, do not hide the fear that something worse can happen and nothing is done to contain the situation. The planned schedule for Holy Week, will probably not change, but not ruled out the presence of the Police to ensure the physical integrity of the clergy and the faithful themselves.
